Fairy lights, sparklers, glow sticks, candles, fireworks, UV lights, day glo face paint, even those neon snap bangle cyclist safety things from the 90s… all bright, colourful stuff that we like. But, seriously, nothing beats a hula hoop made of LED lights.
The Hooping Harlots were lucky enough to have a photoshoot with Marc Byram, whose special interest is ‘light paintings’; Marc uses highly technical light and camera techniques to capture elongated trails left when lights and movement combine. Like some sort of new dimension.
Obviously, we fully embraced the opportunity to get into full costumes, swoop our hoops and have fun with light trail effects. Lots of bright, colourful stuff happened…
Thanks to Marc for the shots. You can check out more of his light painting creations at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151244966261746.445178.599851745&type=3.
And if you’d like to feast on more LED action, then come and get involved with our LED Dance Hall event – we’re only hosting a hoop party! Calling all performers, learners, dancers and everyone else to join the Hooping Harlots in the Ballroom at Antwerp Mansion (Rusholme, Manchester) on Friday 17th May for an LED hoop extravaganza from 7:30pm until 10:30pm.
The drinks will be flowing, the electro swing soundtrack will be turned up to loud and there will even be weighted hoops and hoop bags for sale, plus fancy pants face painting and a performance from us Harlots too. Aaaaand… if you’re after some custom-made performance wear then chief hooper Lucy will be able to chat to you about your requirements and take orders for Harlequin Harlot fabulousness just how you want it. Ideal.
Here’s one of our all time fave electro swing tunes to get you in the mood…
And here’s some next level LED hoop action to get your eyes watering. In a good way. If you have one of the super fancy LED hoops that leave actual light patterns, like in Marc’s photos but REAL LIFE styles, then totally come down:
